Seiko 6105-8000 'Slim Willard', rare late 7-digit serial, a tough old salt, July 1968
Up for sale is a 6105-8000 I just restored this last weekend. This is a watch that had a single owner that loved it. He wore the heck out of it, and had this watch serviced at least three times, and then kept on going. It saw a lot of action in its day - the dial and hands were replaced at least once (the dial is a very interesting piece as it’s a correct dial for this model with high-polish markers but the dial date is like three years after this model ceased production, so that means Seiko fired up the line again to make new correct dials). Very interesting. It also has a late and unusual seven-digit serial on a Daini-made caseback. The serials had gone to six digits in 1967 but for some models the old numbering style persisted.
Fully serviced last weekend
Movement upgraded with upper and lower mainspring arbor jewels
new KVW Type II crystal
Case fully rebuilt with all new gaskets, including the crown
Dial lume is original.
Handset is original but the lume is new; I worked to match the dial lume color.
Case sealing surfaces are perfect; no pitting
Case has been polished - edges are rounded and top surface has been rebrushed
Caseback is worn - again, the original owner wore the heck out of this watch.
