Seiko 6309-7049 SUWA SERVICE CASE - NOS - EXTREMELY RARE
Seiko 6309-7049 SUWA SERVICE CASE - NOS - EXTREMELY RARE
Rarest item I have seen in a long time, and the first true service case for one of these that I have ever seen. It is NOT a sample case, a salesman’s sample piece. It is NOT stamped “SAMPLE” on the caseback. This came to me from a watchmaker’s estate with a February 1977 movement / dial / hands in it, without a stem or crown. I simply can’t wear or use this NOS case, just can’t do it. It should go to someone who wants it for their collection or has the moxie to wear it, or preserve it as they see fit.
December 1980 - late Suwa but carries a sticker saying “Japanese Parts Assembled In Hong Kong”
Blue caseback sticker in place
The only wear is storage wear, and there isn’t much of that
Insert is exquisite. One tiny black fleck in the lume pip.
Caseback seal is original to the watch and in perfect condition
I built a complete crown & stem using genuine Seiko NOS parts - all five parts are genuine NOS Seiko, and the crown seal is also genuine Seiko, new-made.
Rotating ring gasket is genuine Seiko, new-made. Rotating ring turns silky-smooth.
Crystal is original, and original to this case.
Chapter ring is original, original to this case
Crown tube threads are perfect
I’ve never seen one of these before, and can’t imagine I ever will again.
