Seiko 7548-700B "SQ" 150m dive watch, awesome patina, ghost insert, 1978
This is an original freshly-restored “pepsi” Seiko 7548-700B. This variant was, IIRC, destined for outside of Japan, but not N. America. It has a French / English daywheel. Caseback date is July 1978. Dial is dated June 1978. The best thing about this watch is the fantastic dial patina, which is genuine and rare to see. These 7548s and related 630x’s generally don’t get this tan lume - they either stay bone white or turn grey. The only way I’ve seen these turn this color is from lots of dry heat.
Fully and freshly serviced, with the center wheel hole upgraded with a jewel. Accuracy has been adjusted into the 100ths of a second per day accuracy.
July 1978
All original lume
Unforced patina in every regard
Lovely tan dial lume markers
Watch never suffered any kind of serious moisture intrusion at all.
Movement was lovely even before servicing. No moisture damage, only wear to the center wheel port which I jeweled.
All sealing surfaces excellent; no pitting of any kind.
Crown tube threads are perfect and undamaged, ditto for the crown.
Case shows wear, with many signs of an active life.
Insert is ghosted and shows nice character.
Insert pip is present and original
