Seiko H558-5009 “Arnie” with box, tags, original and a modern JDM Seiko DAL1BP from July 1987
This is by far the nicest Arnie I’ve ever owned. This watch was in an abandoned safe deposit box along with a Seiko 6309. The contents were auctioned by the Maryland State comptroller’s office. The original owner did not wear it much. It is in amazing internal and external cosmetic condition, and it’s all original. The shroud is original and uncracked and there are minor marks on it. The crystal is a genuine NOS Seiko.
The original strap is the GL831. It is still flexible and could be worn, but I do not recommend it. The other strap is a modern Seiko JDM DAL1BP, which is a modern version of the GL831 XL meant for professional divers, longer to go over a wetsuit. It is Japanese-only strap and is stamped Seiko DAL1BP. The Seiko-marked stainless buckle is a lovely satin finish and the whole thing is in good shape.
I did a full service on this watch. All new seals as well as a new battery. It runs beautifully.
