1968 Glycine Airman with box & Vietnam history - C-141 Pilot's watch

1968 Glycine Airman with box & Vietnam history - C-141 Pilot's watch

$1,776.00

This is a 1968 Glycine Airman 17j 24-hour watch that belonged to USAF veteran Don Dressel of Marietta GA. One owner, bought in 1970. I bought this watch from the man who bought it from him. Mr. Dressel was a transport pilot who flew the Lockheed C-141 Starlifter from Norton AFB in San Bernadino CA to SE Asia every week.

  • Movement is an AS 1903, watch was serviced at least once, weight replaced with one marked "Winton Watch Co".

  • Movement is currently unserviced but is fully functional.

  • Non-hacking, wire is missing, aperture is present in the dial.

  • Date quickset works as it should

  • Locking crown for 24-hour bezel works, bezel is very stiff

  • Lume is somewhat darkened but is intact

  • Dial & hands are the standard non-”special” type. I’m not sure if it is a replacement dial or correct, I am not not an authority on these and the watch has had work done in the past

  • Crystal is in good shape

  • Bracelet is a 60s / 70s generic aftermarket with "bar" type links, comes with one extra link

  • Box is original period correct
