Seiko 6139-6001 Proof / Resistant Transitional, RARE, Oct 70

Seiko 6139-6001 Proof / Resistant Transitional, RARE, Oct 70
In late 1970, for a brief period of time, Seiko produced the proof / resistant 6139-6001 model of chronograph. They came in a non-notch case produced for the taller 6139B movement, but with a 6139A. This example is from October 1970. It is unserviced.
Extremely nice dial and handset
Perfect white lume, and I mean perfect.
Dial surface is excellent with bright clean printing.
Marker tops are clean and shiny, as is the date window.
Unfaded indicator ring with perfect lume, in new condition
Bright and physically clean 6139A movement is in fully functional condition, unserviced.
Chronograph hands reset to zero as they should. Chrono hands are a service set installed at a Seiko service center, based on the Seiko ‘SII’ service stamp inside the caseback. Hands are excellent, in new condition, in the darker tomato red. Sweep is the one-piece later type.
Spanish / English daywheel
Brushing on the case top is smoothed down but still present.
Case sides and caseback show wear but no abuse. Case lines are sharp.
Crystal is excellent, unmarked. I don’t know if it’s the original crystal or a replacement. Excellent clarity, looks great.
Aftermarket H-link bracelet is full length, will easily fit an 8” wrist
Servicing is available separately
