Seiko 62MAS 6217-8001, All original, Serviced, June '67 Horseshoe caseback EX. NICE

$3,999.00

This is a rare Daini-made seven-digit-serial 62mas. The watch head is all original down to the crystal. Watch is fully serviced. This is a rare survivor in even rarer condition.

  • Seiko 6217a 17j orange-text movement is fully serviced and in great condition

  • All lume is entirely original and is in fantastic condition.

  • Under magnification, the dial lume shows very minor spots at a few corners on a number of markers, but by eye they’re basically invisible. The dial looks awesome. Marker tops are high-polish and sharp edged. It is not often that a 62MAS has lume like this.

  • Hand lume is excellent, with a tiny amount of patina at the base of the minute hand lume. Metal is great.

  • Case fully rebuilt with new gaskets, including the crown. No moisture damage or corrosion anywhere

  • Horseshoe seven-digit serial caseback in excellent condition with light wear but zero tool marks or damage

  • Case is in entirely original condition, with great brushing on the top and sharp case lines. There are some minor pecks and dings on the left side of the case (see photos).

  • Rotating ring insert is nearly unworn. There is a small mark at :59 from the original pip, and other small surface marks.

  • Crystal is the original, and shows light wear and some crazing from age. No hits or big scratches, and has excellent clarity.

  • Strap is a vintage “1218” tropic from the 60s or 70s, put in place with spacers to bring the ends to 19mm. Buckle is the correct old type and is marked SEIKO.ST.STEEL.JAPAN.G. I don’t know if the buckle is original or a modern reproduction, but it looks good.
