Seiko 6619-8060 MAC-V SOG w/ Vietnam history, serviced 2024
Made in June 1967, this example of the first type of Mac-V watches. There were three versions of the Mac-V watches. These were the first, and were private-purchase pieces that were bought at the PX. The later models, the 6119s and 7005s, were issued. As befits a private-purchase example, this one still has its original train track bracelet, which has a clasp hand-stamped "VIET NAM VIC 67 _ 68". I am told the original owner was a military photographer.
Seiko 6619A orange-text movement is in good condition.
Caseback has four servicing marks, one dated "24". Based on the presence of oil under the cap jewel and a fresh caseback gasket I would guess it was serviced in 2024.
Movement looks bright and clean.
Original lume is patinated by contact with humidity / moisture, but is physically intact
Hand metal is good, no corrosion
Dial edge shows some warping from some previous servicing
Crystal was replaced at some point with a silver chapter ring, rather than the original black ring these came with
Case has no corrosion or damage to the sealing surfaces
Bracelet is full length and in good functional condition
